Nowadays, we are living a moment of change in the fashion World and, in a market of continuous progress, that’s saying something. With all the evolution happening in Haute Couture and prêt-à-porter, every brand is immerse in a deep search of new formulas and keys to reach success faster and easier. This is the case of J.Crew after a few mediocre and short of creativity years. Now, the brand is trying to take a positive turn to its collections and has hired Somsack Sikhounmuong as the designer of the women line.

What is the big change everyone is talking about? Getting back to the beginning. J.Crew has been shooting in the dark for the past seasons, trying to satisfy the fashion market and leaving aside its own image. Until now. In the last collection ready-to-wear 2016, the brand has recovered everything that feels like J.Crew: the patterns, masculine vibe and tomboy spirit that were so subtle lately are back in this collection, stronger than ever.

The result is a collection full of happiness that leaves you with a colourful tasty mood. Inspired by beauty and everything beauty means, Sikhounmuong has created a dreamy universe in pink, ruffles and silk skinny scarves. Only girls allowed! However, this is J.Crew what we’re talking about and it has to be clear, so forget pretty princesses. Sweetness and candidness have been compensated with masculine bold details, as the gingham pattern, tailored jackets, moccasins and gripper pants.

This lady style is not the only one twisted in the collection of the American Brand. Patterns are taking the leading role of the designs, being mixed, whited and shaked. Floral illustrations are together with paisley, sequins and animal print. No one is left; all of them are joining the party! An impossible breaking mix inspired in the most baroque interior design. Only a brand as J.Crew could make all this patterns work together. One thing is for sure, pink is the must-have.
